A.W n'en est pas à son premier essai mais ce nouvel opus attire plus encore notre attention sur quelqu'un dont le nom n'est pas assez mentionné.
Le titre de l'ep Pink & Purple sur fond nuageux colle parfaitement aux notes de l'album : frais et fin.
Vous l'aurez compris quant au précédent post, Pink & Purple, un des titres cette fois, est définitivement notre préféré tant et si bien qu'il nous engage à sortir la nuit, repeindre les nuages au feutre violet (pas dans l'immédiat, 32° et bordel pas un nuage).

Un artiste discret mais efficace.
A faire tourner impérativement.

All of grace, Prince and funk under well made lyrics, not too joyful, neither too poet.
A.W is not on his first try there but this new opus gets more our attention on somebody whose name is not enough mentioned.
The title of the ep Pink & Purple on cloudy bottom sticks perfectly with the notes of the album: fresh and fine.
You will have understood it considering the former post, Pink & Purple, one of the titles this time, is definitively our favorite. So much that it undertakes us to go out at night to repaint clouds with a purple pencil.

1- How Pink & Purple (the song) was born?
“Pink and Purple” was more or less born from some non-stop listening to Prince with my special lady (which we still do all the time)... I’m a massive fan of his, and he is of course, the purple-master...
Hard to say what "Pink and Purple" has come to mean, but it’s basically a dreamlike feeling, or some sort of bizarre fantasy world... A mysterious angel visits me in the night, takes me up into the sky, and we paint the clouds purple and radiate pink up from the ground... There goes my crazy imagination, up to no good...

2- How is it helpful to live in Brooklyn as a musician?
Brooklyn has been lovely in so many ways.
Until recently I lived in Williamsburg, which as you may know is an immensely creative neighborhood. I’ve had the good fortune of meeting so many talented young people there, seen so many amazing concerts, eaten such great food, and of course partied very hard there...
But it can be a little tiring living there, too – there are so many people who want everybody to know just how creative they are... Really wear it on their sleeves... I used to joke that it’s Halloween everyday there...
I think in the long run, I work best as a hermit, a real studio junkie – haha. So I moved out...

3- There are a lot of great featurings in your EP, how did you choose your "musical circle" for this EP?
Most of the folks on my record are old friends, or I’ve met through old friends. Been really lucky that way – a lot of the people I play with have basically established themselves in New York as highly-sought-after musicians... The list of bands they've worked with and recorded with reads like a who’s who in awesome music... The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, Antibalas, Shakira, Spoon, Asobi Seksu, Dragons of Zynth, Dirty on Purpose, Bell, Earl Greyhound.... the list goes on and on.

4- Why are you independent? Is it a choice or are you looking of a label? If yes, which one would be the best one ?
I’m independent for a few reasons, but I certainly wouldn’t be opposed to being signed... Especially if someone came along and said, “here’s some money – go make more songs!”

I just don’t seek it out actively... Basically, I think there are SO MANY aspects to being “signed” that are more or less out of date. Possibly the best part to being signed is the caché you get from saying you’re on a certain label. You're much more likely to be covered in the music press and people are A LOT more likely to listen to you just by saying “I’m signed to DFA” or whichever label... Many people associate a certain sound, sense of taste, and coolness with the labels that they know and like, and they at least give a chance to whatever music that label puts out... Definitely hard to do without one...
With the improvement of technology / power of the internet, etc... however, most of the tools that you used to need a label for, from recording, to promotion, to distribution, etc..., you can do so easily on your own now...so, in that sense, I think the traditional record deal is not relevant anymore...

HOWEVER, there is a certain point where you grow as an independent enough that the business end is taking up too much of your time, and you’re not recording or being creative as much as you could be... At that point, it definitely makes sense to find some help...
And if that day ever comes for me (and hopefully it will), there’s quite a few labels I’d love to be on... Any of the following would do me just fine :

Derrière ce nom curieux se cache un trio munichois très ghetto Miami. Créateurs et chefs de file de la Munich Bass, un mélange d'Electro, de Baltimore et Dubstep, leur musique transpire le vice et la fureur de vivre. Après une tournée en Europe et un set déchainé mais sobre (ils étaient au jus de pomme) aux Nuits Sonores de Lyon, ils sortent un album en août, achat indispensable pour toutes vos soirées "Booty". A associer à un mini short en jean une chaine en or, quelques faux palmiers et une bière munichoise. Now shake!

Behind that weird name is hidden a german band very Miami ghetto. Founder and leader of the "Munich bass", a mix of GhettoTek, Electro, Baltimore and Dubstep, their music is full of vice and rage to live. After a tour in Europe and a furious but sobre set (they were drinking apple juice), they are about to release an album in August, a must-have for all your "Booty" parties. To buy with a mini-short, a gold necklace, fake palm trees and a good old beer from Munich. Now Shake!

1- You are about to release your new album in August, how did the preparation and the recording go?
Yes, album is coming out in august (on disko b, vinyl and cd and download)! we are really excited about the reactions. recording was quite funny since we didnt have a proper studio at this time so we took some place in one's livingroom and produced the whole album mostly with headphones on since the neighbors are kinda sensitive about loud simple basslines the whole day.... so basically there were three guys with headphones screaming to each other stuff like "yeah, i like that sound! crank it up a little!?!"....

most of the collaborations on the album just happened because of the internet. we met spoek from slushpuppykids when we played with him/sweat x in munich. after that he wrote us an email and thats how it went. sending instrumentals, receiving some vocals etc.

2- How did your tour go? Was it your first visit in France?
Lyon was the first official Schlachthofbronx gig in france (travelling to france with the school to contest french youths drinkin skills not included in this count of course...). sadly we couldnt get our benefit from our kingsize beds in the fancy hotel in lyon since we had to get our train early in the morning the next day to go to play in amsterdam ....

3- What is your worst memory on stage or backstage?
Partying in Lyon was great, the crowd reacted pretty well (and there was this crazy weathermachine which sprayed rain in the dancing masses in every break, niiiice!). lots of screaming and crowdsurfing, we loved it!
The sad aspect was that we somehow managed to wobble half of our drinks from the sidetable directly in our equipment bags.... rum coke everywhere.... wait -so no REAL bad memories...

4- What is your favorite album of all times?

Too many to mention. no really too many.

Miike Snow : the end of the mystery

Vous vous souvenez de Miike Snow, on vous en parlait ICI. Ils avaient sortis deux titres "Animal" et "Burial" aussitôt remixés par la crème de l'electro (Crookers, Dj Medhi entre autres) . Ce trio suédois est composé des producteurs Christian Karlsson et Pontus Winnberg plus connus sous le pseudo de Bloodshy & Avant (ils ont collaboré avec Madonna et Britney notamment pour "Toxic") et du musicien et producteur new yorkais Andrew Wyatt. Ils ont sorti leur premier album éponyme en mai, sur Downtown Records. Ils y livrent une électro-pop fraiche et pleine de mélancolie, à écouter allongé dans un transat, avec un bon bouquin.

Do you remember Miike Snow, we talked about them HERE. They released too singles "Animal" and "Burial" that were remixed instantly by the best artists in town ( Crookers and Dj Medhi among them) . This swedish trio is the two producer Bloodshy & Avant ( who worked with Madonna and Britney) aka Christian Karlsson et Pontus Winnberg and the NYC based musician Andrew Wyatt. Their debut album, self-title, was released in May, on Downtown Records. They make fresh and melancholic pop music with just a hint of electro, listen to their songs in a long chair, with a great book.

MOTIVATIONS - RAPPEL DES FAITS
Nous avions, le pas confiant et curieux, décidé de nous rendre au concert des Crookers. C'est pas mal Crookers, une patte certaine, bonne idée.
C'était donc en avril (ou mai, c'était il y a longtemps, on est plus très sûr). Ils ont annulés la vieille. Seule date française à Bordeaux. Ils avaient semble t-il oublié de faire un album. SOIT.

SUITE DU CRASH
Reprogrammation pour le 18 juin. " On garde nos places on y va". "Non non non on finit les bouteilles avant de partir."
01h, il est amplement temps de mettre 1,60e dans un ticket de tram (un ticket = le quart d'un verre de bière au 4Sans, investissement admissible.)
01h20, nous sommes interpelés par un groupe de jeunes (15 ans) "C'est annulé bordel, c'est annulé". Notre réaction immédiate fut de repousser cette idée avec force.

FAUT PAS DECONNER.

Ben non, non NON, NON non non. Annulation effective. Ils avaient, cette fois, loupé leur vol. C'est MARRANT.

BILAN
Deux annulations pour des raisons détestables sur leur unique date française m'emplie le coeur de regret : BATARDS.
Deux solutions, expresses : changer de manager afin d'éviter ce genre de problèmes d'organisation, de gestion du temps dirais-je, problèmes prompts à engager le paiement de petites indémnités d'annulation. Ou, se sentir adulte et respecter un temps soit peu tous les petits chatons ayant fait l'effort de venir les voir, par amour (nous avons reçu de nombreux témoignages de moustaches détruites par la peine) et ayant parcouru notre chère France pour écouter autre chose que Day n' Nite sur NRJ.

C'est finit les conneries, on ira plus.
